Few in the fund industry may realize that Artisan Funds has surpassed Strong Capital in fund assets under management. Artisan, for those who may not remember, was founded by two Strong veterans -- the husband and wife team of
Andrew A. Ziegler and
Carlene Murphy Ziegler -- just a decade ago in March of 1995.
Ten years later and Artisan claims $40.5 billion in seven funds. Meanwhile, Strong Funds' $29 billion in assets are being folded into the coffers of Wells Fargo. Not a bad story for a fund firm started with a dream and a dollop of venture capital.
The fund firm's hometown paper, the
Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, has a more complete story
here.
