It may be a cold and wintry day across most of the United States, but that never stopped a true marketing officer from getting the job done. Or getting the job in the first place. In Chicago, Illinois,
Van Kampen Funds has tapped
David M. Swanson, 42, to be executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
Swanson will be charged with the marketing and advertising for the entire mutual fund product line at the firm.
He will report to
Jack Zimmermann, president of Van Kampen Funds.
Swanson replaces
Scott West, who has been named to the post of director of marketing programs. This is a new position at the company.
Swanson joins the firm from
Scudder Kemper Investments, where he served as managing director and director of marketing. While there, he was responsible for developing brand sponsorships such as "Team Kemper" (a part of the Senior PGA Tour) and brand sponsorships such as the title sponsorship of the men's Big Ten Basketball Championship.
