On December 17, 2019, the teams at Chiron and FS Investments unveiled a deal for FS to buy Chiron. The deal is expected to close in Q1 2020.
Chiron Investment Management launched in 2015 as a joint venture between Ryan Caldwell, former co-PM of Ivy's flagship Ivy Asset Strategy Fund, and GPS Investment Partners. GPS' three leaders — Enrico Gaglioti, Scott Prince, and Marc Spilker — took leadership roles with the startup (CEO, vice chairman, and chairman, respectively).
Chiron specializes in "quantamental" investing, combining fundamental and quantitative methods. The firm's namesake, from Greek mythology, was a centaur healer and trainer of heroes.
