One of the first investment counseling firms, Beck, Mack & Oliver was started by T. Edmund Beck and Lewis Mack in February 1931. R. Grant Oliver joined the partnership later that year. The company remains independent.
The firm, which manages separate accounts and two mutual funds,
does not employ a separate team of analysts. Instead, Beck, Mack & Oliver believes that research is best done by senior investment professionals.
On the mutual fund side, the firm runs the Beck, Mack & Oliver Global Equity Fund and Beck, Mack & Oliver Partners Fund.
In April 2009, Beck, Mack & Oliver acquired Austin Investment Management Inc., manager of the Austin Global Equity Fund. The fund, which has been around since December 1993, was renamed Beck, Mack & Oliver Global Equity Fund in June 2009.
The Beck, Mack & Oliver Partners Fund was originally launched as a commingled fund in April 1991. It was transformed into a mutual fund in December 2009.
