Pax World's ethical investing ethos dates back to its 1971 founding by two veterans of the United Methodist Church, Luther Tyson and Jack Corbett. The pair had worked on peace, housing and employment issues and wanted to enable investors to align their investments with their values.
The Pax World Fund opened on August 10, 1971, with $101,000 in assets and is credited as being the first mutual fund to use social as well as financial criteria in the investment decision-making process.
Pax World jumped into the ETF business in May 2010 when it opened the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) family of ETFs.
