Paul Matthews founded Matthews International Capital Management in 1991, and since then the firm has focused on investing in Asian markets.
On January 5, 2011, Matthews announced that private equity firm Lovell Minnick Partners has purchased a minority stake in the company. The firm remains privately-held.
Mutual FundsMatthews Asia currently offers 13 mutual funds. It launched its first two mutual funds in 1994 when it opened Matthews Pacific Tiger and Matthews Asian Growth and Income Funds.
In 2011 it opened its first mutual fund that invests solely in fixed income assets.
