John C. Kornitzer started Kornitzer Capital Management in 1989 to manage
customized portfolios for private clients and institutions. Five years later, in 1994, the firm launched its first fund. Buffalo Funds are offered both directly and through intermediaries.
In October 2009, KCM closed the $2.44 billion Buffalo Small Cap Fund to most new investors.
Founder
Kornitzer, an industry veteran with over 37 years of experience, is the president of Buffalo Funds and portfolio manager for the fixed income and equity portfolios. Prior to founding KCM, Kornitzer was vice president of investments for Employers Reinsurance Corp., which he joined in 1978. Earlier, he spent seven years at Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Inc. and four years at Butcher & Singer.
