Background:

Founder Richard Aster, Jr. worked for the U. S. Treasury Department and Newburger, Loeb & Company before joining Robertson, Colman, Siebel & Weisel (which became Montgomery Securities and subsequently Banc of America Securities, Montgomery Division). He founded the eponymous firm in 1977 and started the Meridian Growth Fund in 1984, the Meridian Value Fund in 1994 and the Meridian Equity Income Fund in 2005.
Aster served as the funds' lead portfolio manager. He died of an accident on February 16, 2012.
James England and James O'Connor now serve as co-PMs of the equity income fund and the value fund, and England and William Tao are the co-PMs of the growth fund.
