In November 2015, Hatteras unveiled an LOI for management to buy the firm back from RCS Capital, which bought Hatteras in June 2014.
David B. Perkins founded Hatteras Funds in 2003 as an alternative investment manager. With the appointment of Brian Jacobs as CEO in April 2010, Perkins became chairman. He then took the CEO spot back in 2012 when Jacobs departed.
Hatteras Funds entered the '40 Act mutual fund business in September 2009 with its acquisition of AIP Mutual Funds [profile]. It launched the Alternative Mutual Funds brand in October 2009.
The funds follow hedged investment strategies in a mutual fund structure.
