Schooner Investment Group is a relatively fresh entrant into the mutual fund world and retail investing in general. Founded in 1995, the Radnor, Pennsylvania-based RIA caters to banks and other institutional managers, as well as high net worth individuals. Then in 2008, Schooner launched the Schooner Fund, PMed by Schooner president and chief investment officer Greg Levinson.
Schooner, part of U.S. Bancorp's Trust for Professional Managers fund series, carries load-based A shares and trail-based C shares.
Levinson hails from the hedge fund world. He led global convertible and equity-linked trading for one fund and he founded an equity-linked market neutral manager, Polaris Advisors, after working at BNP.
