On February 13, 2018, Korean multinational Mirae Asset unveiled a deal to buy Global X. The deal is expected to close in Q3 2018.
Global X is a New York-based provider of exchange-traded mutual funds, which are sub-administered and distributed by SEI and listed on NYSE Arca. The firm was founded in 2008.
The firm specializes in offering emerging and developed markets ETFs covering Latin America, Asia and Europe. Its offerings span the commodities, technology, financials and consumer sectors. In April 2011, it added a specialty ETF targeting the waste management sector to its product menu. It managed some $1.7 billion in AUM as of March 2011.
Global X's ETFs track indexes from FTSE, Russell, S&P and Structured Solutions.
