Former University of Denver finance professor Craig Callahan launched
Meridian Investment Management, the predecessor to Icon Advisers,
in 1986 with one of his students. The company entered the mutual fund
business in 1997.
Employing a quantitative, value-based approach, Icon offers manages 17 mutual funds, including nine sector funds.
On January 1, 2004, Meridian Investment Management changed its name
to Icon Advisers.
In January 2010, Icon brought on board Steve Moran as its new head of sales and marketing.
Moran replaces Steve Holmes, who has moved on from the company.
On January 3, 2011, company founder and president Callahan returned to
active management of two funds, taking the reins at the Icon Core Equity and Long/Short funds.
