A $1.2T-AUM AM Gains 2 Chiefs

Reported by Neil Anderson, Managing Editor

A pair of new leaders are taking over a $1.2-trillion-AUM (as of September 30), multinational asset manager that has a U.S. arm and is part of a European bank.

David L. Giunta
Natixis Investment Managers
CEO for the U.S.
On Thursday, the Natixis Investment Managers [profile] team revealed that that Nathalie Bricker has been appointed deputy CEO of Natixis IM. The move came one week after Nicolas Namias, chairman of the management board of Groupe BPCE, and Stéphanie Paix, CEO of Group BPCE's global business, revealed the appointment of Philippe Setbon as CEO of Natixis IM and head of asset and wealth management for Group BPCE. (Paris-based Group BPCE is Natixis IM's parent, and Natixis IM's U.S. business is led by David Giunta.)

Setbon succeeds Tim Ryan, outgoing Natixis IM CEO, the Group BPCE team confirms. According to them, Ryan "wishes to pursue his career outside the group."

Setbon most recently served as CEO of Ostrum Asset Management, a Natixis IM specialist fixed income and insurance-related boutique. When Setbon took over Natixis IM, Olivier Houix, who previously served as Group BPCE's chief sustainability officer. And Bricker will continue to also serve as Natixis IM's global head of finance and strategy, as she has since July.

Namias claims that Setbon's arrival "will be a key factor in optimizing the performance of [Natixis IM's] model and driving ... growth ambitions."

"Asset & Wealth Management is a core business for the Group and one of global standing and a source of growth and diversification," Paix states. "I would like to thank Tim Ryan for his work and accomplishments over this near three-year period. He notably simplified and leveraged our model's particularly rich offering and steered the transformation of the transversal and control functions, always in the interest of client centricity."

Paix also lauds Setbon for the new Natixis IM chief's "successful work over the last four years as Chief Executive Officer of Ostrum AM."

Ryan took over Natixis IM back in 2021 after leading asset management for Generali. Earlier, he held senior leadership roles with AB, Axa, and Sinopia. He is an alumnus of Université de Bordeaux and Université Côte d'Azur.

Setbon took over Ostrum AM in 2019 after leading Groupama Asset Management and Assicurazioni Generali. He is an alumnus of Paris-Dauphine University.

Bricker joined Natixis in 2007 and has since served in accounting leadership roles, rising to CFO in 2018. Earlier, she held accounting leadership roles at Natexis Banques Populaires, CDC IXIS, and Caisse des Dépôts, and she also worked at KPMG.
