State Street Global Advisors has sent out a request for proposal to 10 or so index providers in its hunt to create new exchange-traded funds, reports the
Wall Street Journal.
"Our goal is to go out there and blanket the index-provider community and get as much information as we can get,"
Jim Ross, co-head of the ETF business told the Journal. "We want to take that information and evaluate it in conjunction with what we see as the areas of ETF expansion, both in the U.S. and abroad," said Ross.
In particular, the company sees opportunities in international and domestic fixed income and dividend-yielding stocks.
"We have done a needs assessment and want to fill in holes in our lineup, expand our offerings, be opportunistic where we can and be on the cutting edge where it makes sense," Greg Ehret, co-head of the ETF business, told the Journal.
