The exchange-traded side of the asset management industry broke a couple of records last month as inflows accelerated, according to the latest data from the folks at an ETF-focused research firm.

On Wednesday (December 11),
Debbie Fuhr, managing partner at
ETFGI,
revealed that the U.S. ETF and ETP industry brought in a record $1.03 trillion in net inflows in the first 11 months of 2024, accounting for 61.7 percent of
worldwide YTD ETF and ETP inflows of $1.67 trillion, also a new industry record. Both of the world and U.S. YTD inflows figures beat the prior record YTD and even full year of inflows, which were back in
2021. (This week's findings are part of ETFGI's "November 2024 US ETFs industry landscape insights" report and ETFGI's November 2024 "global ETFs industry landscapes" report.)
ETF industry AUM also reached new heights last month. U.S. ETFs and ETPs held a combined $10.6 trillion on November 30, 2024, up 6 percent ($600 billion) from the prior record on
September 30, 2024, up $620 billion (6.2 percent) month-over-month from
October 31, 2024, and up $2.95 trillion (38.6 percent) year-over-year from
November 30, 2023. As of November 30, 2024, U.S. ETFs accounted for 70.1 percent of worldwide ETF AUM of $15.12 trillion (up 4.9 percent and up 37.8 percent Y/Y).
In November 2024, U.S. ETFs brought in $164.43 billion in net inflows, up by $43.85 billion (36.4 percent) M/M and up by $63.03 billion (62.2 percent) Y/Y. U.S. ETF inflows accounted for 74.8 percent of worldwide November 2024 ETF inflows of $219.95 billion (up by 4 percent M/M and up by 56.6 percent Y/Y). It was the 31st consecutive month (i.e. two years and seven months) of inflows for U.S. ETFs, while the worldwide ETF inflows streak reached 66 months (five years and six months).
As of November 30, 2024, the U.S. ETF industry included 3,854 ETFs and ETPs, up by 28 (0.7 percent) M/M and up by 503 (15 percent) Y/Y. U.S. ETFs and ETPs now account for 29.5 percent of the 13,067 ETFs and ETPs worldwide. (That worldwide count is up by 0.6 percent M/M and up by 10.2 percent Y/Y).
348 ETF providers operated in the U.S. as of November 30, 2024, a count that was unchanged M/M but up by 45 (14.9 percent) Y/Y. 43.9 percent of the 793 worldwide ETF providers operate in the U.S. (That worldwide provider count is up by 0.3 percent M/M and up by 10.4 percent Y/Y).
