The
Baron Funds [
profile] team is hosting the 30th annual
Baron Investment Conference today. As per usual, the New York City-based asset manager's financial advisor allies and individual fund shareholders (more than 5,000 people in total)
converged on Manhattan's Lincoln Center this morning to kick off a day of portfolio manager discussions,
portfolio company CEO interviews, and
high profile entertainment. This year's theme is "Own It!"
"A lot has changed since our first investment conference, which was held at a hotel ballroom and attended by about 30 of my friends," Ron Baron states.
Singer
Justin Timberlake is the headline surprise star at the Baron conference this afternoon. Earlier, the breakout lunch sessions featured performances from comedian
Adam Sandler, singer
John Legend, and stars of the Neil Diamond-themed Broadway musical,
A Beautiful Noise.
As for the non-Baron on-stage interviews, they featured leaders from companies that Baron Funds invest in. Today, executives featured included:
Andy Florance, founder and CEO of
CoStar Group, Inc.;
Eric Green, CEO of
West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc.;
Michael Kehoe, CEO and president of
Kinsale Capital Group, Inc.; and
Philip Snow, CEO of
FactSet Research Systems, Inc..
"Our goal is for our clients and shareholders to learn from these exceptional CEOs and better understand our firm's mission: to provide our investors with access to businesses we believe possess the durable competitive advantages, best-in-class management, and open-ended growth opportunities that will produce exceptional results over the long term," Ron Baron states.
The conference wrapped up with a special appearance by an Israeli performer singing Israel's national anthem.
