A Philadelphia-based veteran in the RIA channel is bringing her skills to a business development role at an ETF startup on the West Coast.

Katie Abbott is joining Larkspur, California-based BondBloxx as a business development officer. She most recently worked at New York-based BlackRock in an iShares leader, vice president role, MFWire has learned.

A BlackRock spokesperson declined to comment.

Abbott joined BondBloxx on July 24 and will report to Brian O'Donnell, co-founder and head of distribution at BondBloxx, O'Donnell tells MFWire in an email. In her new position, Abbott will cover RIAs, asset managers, and ETF investment strategists, "serving as a trusted resource" when these parties are navigating fixed income opportunities for clients, says O'Donnell.

Abbott's focus area will be most of the New England region, O'Donnell tells MFWire.

"Looking forward to working with you on the East Coast, Katie," said Ahmed Taha in a comment on the BondBloxx LinkedIn post about Abbott joining the team. Taha also recently joined BondBloxx as a business development officer, as previously reported.

Abbott was hired because of her ETF and fixed income knowledge, as well as her experience with "uilding trusted relationships with financial professionals," O'Donnell tells MFWire.

Before working at BlackRock for eight years, Abbott's past experiences include time with Vanguard. Abbott (nee Lamsback) is an alumna of Lafayette College.
