On July 28, the
Columbia Flexible Capital Income Fund reached its 10th birthday. The
$1.3-billion-AUM allocation mutual fund is still PMed by its two
launch PMs —
David King (head of income and growth strategies at Ameriprise's
Columbia Threadneedle [
profile]) and
Yan Jin — and a third PM,
Grace Lee, joined the fund's PM team last year.
The trio use a bottom-up, go-anywhere approach to managing the fund, which is currently rated five stars.
"There is a misconception that different analytical skills are required to assess various types of securities," King states. "I disagree. My team and I are focused on a firm's cash flow and balance sheet, regardless of security type."
