A 35-year-old asset manager's team is celebrating a big anniversary for a big fund.
Yesterday,
Bob Steers, co-founder and CEO of
Cohen & Steers [
profile], and
Jason Yablon, senior portfolio manager and head of U.S. real estate,
trumpeted that the
Cohen & Steers Realty Shares Fund has reached its 30th anniversary. The fund now has $7.5 billion in AUM. (That translates into 7.8 percent of the firm's $96.2 billion in AUM as of June 30.)
Steers and fellow firm co-founder
Marty Cohen launched the fund in 1991. It is now PMed by Yablon,
Matthew Kirschner (SVP), and
Jon Cheigh (executive vice president, chief investment officer, and head of real estate). Steers notes that "REITS were still relatively unknown to most investors" when the fund debuted three decades ago.
