A 13-year C-suiter is passing the reins at a $74.418-billion-AUM (as of May 24) ETF shop. Meanwhile, the folks at the publicly traded asset manager are teaming up in the cryptocurrency space.
This morning,
Jonathan Steinberg, founder and CEO of
WisdomTree Investments, Inc. [
profile],
confirms that on June 1
Bryan Edmiston, the 45-year-old chief accounting officer and director of financial reporting and accounting policy, is
taking over as chief financial officer. Edmiston succeeds outgoing CFO
Amit Muni, who is
joining CI Financial Corp. by the end of the month as CFO.
"Bryan's experience leading our financial accounting, reporting and tax function globally, as well as his overall knowledge of the industry, will have an immediate impact as we continue to see momentum in the core business," Steinberg states, adding thanks to Muni "for his exceptional leadership, commitment and contributions throughout the last 13 years."
Separately, but also this morning,
Will Peck, head of strategy and emerging technologies at WisdomTree,
unveiled a new
partnership between WisdomTree,
Onramp Invest (a kind of
FA-focused roboadvisor), and
Gemini (a cryptocurrency exchange). The WisdomTree team will launch the
WisdomTree +Crypto Model Portfolios, making them available to FAs via
Onramp Invest (which emerged from beta yesterday), with integration into Gemini.
Peck lauds Onramp and Gemini as "two innovative leaders propelling the accessibility of digital assets" and describes the partnership as way to help advisors "to strategically incorporate crypto assets into portfolios while potentially considering information provided through WisdomTree's +Crypto Model Portfolios."
"WisdomTree has always sought to be a leader in providing educational information and tools for advisors," Peck states. "Advisors are fielding questions about crypto assets now more than ever."
Tyrone Ross, CEO of Onramp, and
Dave Abner, global head of business development at Gemini, also share their excitement about the partnership.
As for Edmiston, he joined WisdomTree in 2016 as director of financial reporting and accounting policy, and he added the CAO role in 2018. Earlier, he held leadership roles at Gleacher & Company and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is an alumnus of Pace University.
Muni has served as executive vice president and CFO of WisdomTree since 2008. Before that, he served as CAO at ISE, and he worked PWC. He, too, is a Pace alumnus.
