Smith Capital Welcomes a Morgan Stanley Alum

Reported by Madison Kerth

The team at Smith Capital Investors has gained a senior advisor. Steve Zamsky began working with the firm last month and will be co-working from both New York City and Connecticut. He reports directly to the founder and CIO at Smith Capital, Gibson Smith, an old friend and colleague from their time at Morgan Stanley in the early 1990s.

Senior Advisor
Prior to joining Smith Capital, Zamsky worked as the COO of global fixed income at Morgan Stanley. He worked in the investment bank division of the company in the sales and trading part of the enterprise. A spokesperson for the company did not respond to a request for comment.

Zamsky has extensive buy-side and sell-side experience in credit markets and fixed income. "In addition to adding value on the investment side, I believe Steve will be instrumental in positioning the company for future growth," Smith states. "We have been friends and colleagues for over 20 years, and share a common passion for investing, creating client solutions, and building strong teams."

Zamsky shares the same excitement and enthusiasm to be joining Smith's team. "Navigating the fixed income markets is as challenging as ever, and there is a huge opportunity to provide clients with sensible solutions, straight forward products, and great service," he states. "Gibson has put together a fantastic team and I'm thrilled to be a part of it."

"I continue to believe that as we bring great people together in an investment-focused and client-centric culture, we can build something incredibly special," Smith adds.

Zamsky revealed that both he and Smith are "confident that the market will always need the type of service" they are producing at Smith Capital.

"He and I have been talking about this for a long time," Zamsky told MFWire. "It's like working with your best friend everyday!"

Prior to his time at Morgan Stanley, Zamsky worked at Pequot Capital and Fidelity Investments. He holds an MBA from The University of Chicago's Booth School of Business and a BS in Accounting from Oregon State University.
