Last night, fundsters enjoyed their final night of networking events at what will be their final
ICI MFIM night for years to come. And this morning they will gather one last time for two final sessions.

After years of spending alternating years here in Palm Desert, California (at the JW Marriott Desert Springs) and in Orlando, Florida (at the
JW Marriott Grand Lakes), for the next four years the ICI's giant legal conference will switch back and forth between San Antonio, Texas (starting in 2018) and San Diego, California. That means that the 2017 ICI MFIM, wrapping up later this morning, will be the conference's last time in Palm Desert until 2022 at the earliest.
Fundsters' final networking events yesterday included: an exclusive afternoon pool party;
Donnelly's indoor/outdoor patio party next to the hotel's lake;
Wilmer Hale's outdoor party featuring a live guitarist;
Northern Trust's wine tasting party on a practice putting green; and
PwC's traditional giant party, featuring a big tent with a live band, a candy and dessert bar, and fundsters on a dance floor.
This morning features two final general sessions. First up, "Building Successful and Ethical Teams" features UNLV business law and ethics professor
Nancy Rapoport. Second, "Alert Level Red, Yellow or Green: Where to Focus in the Current Environment" features:
Kathleen Barr, independent director for the
William Blair Funds;
Joseph Carrier, chief risk officer at
Legg Mason;
Buddy Donohue, former SEC chief of staff and investment management division director;
Thomas Fuccillo, managing director and chief regulatory counsel, head of funds and retail legal for
Allianz Global Investors in the U.S.;
Philip Kirstein, senior officer and independent compliance officer at
AB;
Nancy Morris, managing director and chief compliance officer at
Wellington Management Company;
Robert Scales, principal of
Robert P. Scales, LLC and former CCO and general counsel for
Columbia Acorn Funds; and
Tamara Salmon, ICI's associate general counsel for securities regulation and moderator of the panel.
