Voya Investment Management [

Yesterday Matthews
confirmed the promotion of
Jake Tuzza, formerly head of advisor and private wealth channels, to head of intermediary distribution. Tuzza will remain a managing director and report to Matthews, senior managing director and head of the client group for the New York City-based asset manager.
Voya spokesman Kris Kagel confirms that Tuzza's promotion took effect on July 1 and that Tuzza's former duties leading the advisor and private wealth channels have been taken over by other members of the team. All told, the VIM intermediary distribution team includes about 100 people.
Tuzza succeeds
Mark Spina, who left and
joined Pioneer in a similar role in January. At the time
MFWire reported that Tuzza and
John Uricchio, head of the retirement and investment-only channel, would split Spina's duties on an interim basis. Kagel confirms that Uricchio remains head of the retirement and I-O channel and now reports to Tuzza.
Matthews praises Tuzza as having "strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of sales and relationship development, and an in-depth knowledge of Voya IM's products across all asset classes." Tuzza first joined what is now Voya IM in 2002, after working at a hedge fund as an analyst and on a trading desk at Merrill. He's an alumnus of Philadelphia University and LaSalle University.
