Sue Thompson is stepping aside from her role as
BlackRock's head of RIA sales, a company spokesperson has confirmed to
MFWire.
Thompson, who
joined iShares-ancestor Barclays from Vanguard in 2007, will become a senior adviser to the firm at the end of the first quarter of 2015.
The company spokesperson said that Thompson will "work with U.S. retail head Frank Porcelli and iShares Americas institutional head Daniel Gamba, among others, to determine the appropriate future organizational structure."
An announcement will be made by the end of the year, said the spokesperson, regarding the future of the RIA sales chief role.
Thompson was among the lead designers of
BlackRock's strategic ETF push into a number of new areas. This new push included a consolidation of BlackRock's sales force with that of iShares, which previously had been separate, allowing
BlackRock's iShares to aggressively grow in the RIA space.
