PMs, we heart you.
The past few days have filled with love showers for a number of PMs from the press.
For example, the mutual fund comeback of former
Janus wunderkind
Blaine Rollins was dramatized epically in the
Denver Post. Rollins, who once helmed the flagship
Janus Fund, only to leave after some brutal market tailwinds, has jumped back into asset management with the
361 Global Macro Opportunity Fund, sponsored by
Tom Florence's 361 Capital.
Meanwhile,
Gavin Baker, captain of the
Fidelity OTC Portfolio fund was
chronicled by Barron's. The article explores his early aspirations of working in the ski industry with interludes in rock-climbing and photography, and how he now searches for companies that he believes are building the future.
Heavily-seasoned industry veterans also got their due in a
Morningstar article. The lauded luminaries include
FPA Capital managers
Bob Rodriguez,
Dennis Bryan, and
Arik Ahitov;
Royce Pennsylvania Mutual's Chuck Royce and
Jay Kaplan;
John Gunn and his nine-person team; Weitz Partners Value's Wally Weitz; ClearBridge Aggressive Growth's Richie Freeman and Evan Bauman; the Berwyn fund's Bob Killen, Lee Grout, and George Cipolloni.
All that's left are the autographs to be signed. Maybe flowers, or a dinner and a movie.
