We all have a first time.
Morningstar rated five funds for the first time.
Fidelity [
profile]
Real Estate Investment received a Bronze because it has a well-executed, albeit "modest" strategy, and has beaten most of its peers, Morningstar's Russel Kinnel writes.
DFA [
profile]
International Small Company received a Silver rating because it offers good small-cap exposure and performs better than most small cap benchmarks in the U.S. and worldwide, Kinnel writes.
RS Funds [
profile]
RS Value has been given a Neutral rating because it is overhauling its strategy and is implementing risk controls, but Kinnel writes that the problems it has encounters should have been apparent in the beginning.
Vanguard [
profile]
FTSE All-World ex-US SmallCap was rated Silver as Vanguard chose its index well and Kinnel expects "big things" in the fund's future.
Kinnel writes that
Vanguard Strategic Equity gets a Neutral rating because its long-term record is not "stellar" but "adequate" in comparison to Vanguard's other quant funds.
