Financial services and investing reporters do enjoy a good pint, or something stronger. Last night
Aberdeen Asset Management [
profile] gathered 40 journalists with members of its own global team for the Scottish asset manager's third annual St. Andrew's Day dinner, which included a fair helping of Scotland's most famous export.
Aberdeen CEO
Gary Marshall emceed the packed dinner, at Keens Steakhouse in midtown Manhattan. Other Aberdeen team members from Edinburgh and from Aberdeen's U.S. headquarters in Philadelphia also came to New York for the occasion. Reporters came from
Bloomberg,
Dow Jones,
Institutional Investors and other publications.
Over a four course dinner and with help from Aberdeen senior global equity PM
Martin Connaghan and independent "whisky master"
Nicholas Pollacchi, Marshall gave reporters tastes of Scotland's history, humor, poetry, food, and of course its famous single malt scotch whiskys. This
MFWire reporter even ate haggis for the first time.
Reporters went home with a CD of jazz music, a short book on the
Ten Golden Rules of Equity Investing (by Hugh Young), and of course a wee dram for the road.
