Bear Stearns has named
Francois Trahan managing director and chief investment strategist. He starts today and will report to
Kay Booth, senior managing director and head of global equity research. Trahan was hired to develop fundamental investment strategy for the firm's institutional and high-net-worth clients.
The former
Brown Brothers Harriman strategist is stepping into a position left vacant by the departure of
Liz MacKay last year. A spokeswoman for Bear Stearns confirmed that MacKay left Bear Stearns to attend law school.
"Francois has earned a reputation for detailed and thoughtful analysis by using proprietary methodologies to approach research and investing," said Booth. "It's this type of one-of-a-kind analysis that Bear Stearns has prided itself on."
At Brown Brothers Harriman, Trahan also developed tradable strategy recommendations by combining fundamental, quantitative and macroeconomic strategic inputs. Previously, he was a strategist at Ned Davis Research Group, where he covered international equity markets and co-authored Ned Davis' monthly asset allocation publication.
