Ron Baron took the stage today at the
Baron Funds conference and got some laughs from the audience via a series of slides that laid out his firm's outlook on the equities market.
"investors are fearful," he told the crowd. He added that investors are currently flocking to fixed income, gold and hedged investments such as *gasp* hedge funds. However, he predicted that stocks will beat all three investments going forward.
Baron also said that his firm invests not only in buildings, but also in people as evident by some in his staff, which is made up of immigrants from Korea, Russia and India. He added that the firm is not getting into the ETF business because they "are long term investors, not traders."
He also said the firm doesn't plan to go public or sell to a larger player.
