Are equity mutual fund flows finally turning around and heading for positive territory? Murray Coleman of
Barron's points to
Ticonderoga Securities analyst
Douglas Sipkin's take on
Eaton Vance [see profile] and
Franklin Templeton [see profile].
Sipkin sees room for optimism. He notes that Franklin's weekly equity outflows just dropped from $254 million to $72 million and that Eaton Vance's equity outflows dropped from $128 million to $62 million.
Yet Sipkin singles out the three-star, $16.3-billion
Eaton Vance Large-Cap Value Fund for criticism, while
Morningstar analyst
Greg Carlson calls the fund "well-positioned."
