The compensation includes $10 million in stock as part of a signing bonus when Janus hired him away from Pimco.
Janus spokesperson James Aber told the pub that nearly 80 percent of Weil's compensation came in the form of long-term incentive awards and stock awards.
"We believe this compensation structure aligns his interest with the long-term interests of our shareholders," Aber said.
