A rising tide in 2010 lifted a lot of financial services firms and padded a few wallets of their chief executives,
Crain's
reports.
According to the pub, eight of the 15 highest-paid CEOs based in New York City hailed from the financial sector, compared with just three in 2009. And for the second year in a row, Gamco Investors'
Mario Gabelli was tops on the pub's list, with $57 million in total compensation, up $13 million from 2009.
Also,
Larry Fink, CEO of
BlackRock Inc. [see profile], was paid $24 million, up $8 million, which was good enough for seventh place on the pub's list. Fink's firm went on the
defensive recently about Fink's pay in 2010.
