Was Bill Gross' decision to divest Total Return from Treasurys a big deal? The [Pimco [see profile] star seems to be surprised by the strong media reaction to his move.

"We're wondering, 'Why the headlines?'" Gross told CNBC's Joe Kernan on Friday. "If we don't own treasuries, we own something else."

Gross noted that Treasurys aren't the only bonds on the rise: prices for corporate bonds and other sovereign bonds are rising, too.
