Calvert [see profile] may only claim $14 billion in AUM, but it is one of the leading asset managers in shaping the course of socially-responsible investing. While the concept remains a niche with investors, the idea has caught on in Washington. Washingtonian Magazine named Barbara Krumsiek as one of its "100 Most Powerful Women in Washington."

Krumsiek has overseen the firm's efforts as CEO since she signed on in 1997. Before heading to Calvert she ran Alliance Capital Management's mutual fund and variable insurance product lines.
