Invesco PowerShares, led by
Ben Fulton, will hold an event at the Nasdaq next Monday to promote the upcoming launch of nine new ETFs.
The Wheaton, Illinois-based firm plans to launch the ETFs two days later, on April 7.
The ETFs each carry an expense ratio of 29 basis points and are based on the S&P SmallCap 600 Capped Sector Indices.
Fulton, managing director of Invesco PowerShares' global ETF business will speak at the event, which will be attended by industry analysts, reporters and advisors.
Other speakers include
Bobby Brooks, national sales manager at Invesco PowerShares,
David M. Blitzer, managing director and chairman of the index committee at S&P Indices and
Sam Stovall, chief investment strategist at Standard & Poor's.
When the nine ETFs hit the market, Invesco PowerShares will have a total of 127 ETFs in its product menu.
"In a post-recession environment, historically, small caps tend to outperform," said Brooks.
"Many advisors are moving to more discretionary
platforms, and we believe these new ETFs would be a great tool for them to make tactical tilts," he added.
He also pointed out of the 50 largest fund firms, 38 have ETFs as part of their holdings.
"We believe these new ETFs would represent a great opportunity for them to utilize in their portfolio constrution," Brooks said.
The new ETFs are:
PowerShares S&P SmallCap Consumer Discretionary Portfolio;
PowerShares S&P SmallCap Consumer Staples Portfolio;
PowerShares S&P SmallCap Energy Portfolio;
PowerShares S&P SmallCap Financials Portfolio;
PowerShares S&P SmallCap Health Care Portfolio;
PowerShares S&P SmallCap Industrials Portfolio;
PowerShares S&P SmallCap Information Technology Portfolio;
PowerShares S&P SmallCap Materials Portfolio;
and PowerShares S&P SmallCap Utilities
