Transamerica Investment Management has appointed
Peter Lopez
as president effective January 4.
Gary Rolle, who has been with the firm for more than 40 years and developed its growth strategy and investment approach, will remain CEO, CIO
and chairman through June, after which he will serve an advisory
consultant through the end of the year.

TIM, which manages $16.5 billion across 22 mutual funds and institutional accounts, has no plans to appoint a new CEO at this time, according
to company spokeswoman Jane Ingalls.
Rolle will serve as co-manager of the large
growth, diversified equity, and balanced investment strategies until June 30. These investment strategies are pitched to retail market as the Transamerica Equity, Transamerica Diversified Equity, and Transamerica Balanced mutual funds, respectively.
Rolle has been a portfolio manager at TIM since 1967.
For his part, Lopez, 43, rejoined TIM in 2003. In addition
to his new role as president, he will continue as research director
and as part of the large-cap portfolio management team, will
serve as co-portfolio manager of the diversified equity investment
portfolios.
Meanwhile,
Kirk Kim, 40, now serves as deputy CIO and will become
CIO when Rolle steps down from the post on June 30. The 13-year TIM
vet has also been appointed co-manager of the large growth investment
portfolios and lead equity manager of the balanced investment portfolios.
He will continue as lead manager of the concentrated all cap growth
portfolios, including the Transamerica Focus mutual fund.
TIM tapped
John Huber, 38, to the new post of deputy of equity process
and risk management, In addition, Huber was named lead manager of the
large growth portfolios and will continue as lead manager of the mid growth
portfolios, including the Transamerica Growth Opportunities fund.
Edward Han, 43, is now the lead manager of the diversified equity
portfolios. The 12-year TIM vet will continue as lead manager of the mid growth
portfolios.
