Vanguard is in the final stages of its ad agency search and among those on the short list is a Boston-based agency, a source told The MFWire.

Catherine Bension at Select Resources International is helping Vanguard with the search. Bension could not immediately be reached for comment.

"We are still in the midst of our search process," Vanguard spokesperson Linda Wolohan told The MFWire. She referred further questions to Bension.

The incumbent agency is WPP Group's Y&R Brands, according to Adweek. Vanguard started reaching out to search consultants in November of last year, according to the trade pub.

This year through May, Vanguard plunked down $13 million on ads, not counting online ones.
