Pimco Names New Canadian Head

by: Sean Hanna, Editor in Chief

There is a new face running the show in Pimco's Canadian operations. The Newport Beach, California-based company has named Stuart Graham to the top spot of Pimco Canada, which is based in Toronto.

Graham will report to Brent Holden, who is based in Newport Beach. Pimco is owned by Germany's Allianz and claims some $3.3 billion in AUM from 25 Canadian clients. It was created in 2004.

The change stems from the retirement of Margaret Isberg, a 25-year veteran at Pimco.

Pimco lured Graham from ManuLife Financial Corp., where he was vice president and managing director of institutional investments for its MFC Global Investment Management arm. Prior to joining ManuLife, he was an executive vice president at Fidelity Investments.

"Our Canadian business is an extremely important part of PIMCO's global presence," stated Holden. "Stuart has a history of building businesses in Canada and his relationships with institutional and retail investors make him an ideal fit as president of our Canada office and we are pleased to welcome him to PIMCO."

Company Press Release

PIMCO, a leading global investment management firm, has named industry veteran Stuart Graham President of PIMCO Canada.

In this role Mr. Graham will manage PIMCO's Canadian business and build and strengthen relationships with clients, regulators and industry organizations in Canada. He replaces PIMCO Managing Director Margaret Isberg, who is retiring after more than 25 years with the firm. Mr. Graham will be based in PIMCO's Toronto office, and will report to Managing Director Brent Holden in Newport Beach. Mr. Graham will lead an established team of talented professionals who are actively working with many significant Canadian clients, consultants and prospects.

"Our Canadian business is an extremely important part of PIMCO's global presence," said Mr. Holden. "Stuart has a history of building businesses in Canada and his relationships with institutional and retail investors make him an ideal fit as president of our Canada office and we are pleased to welcome him to PIMCO."

Mr. Graham joins PIMCO from MFC Global Investment Management, where he was Vice President and Managing Director of Institutional Investments. Prior to that, he was Executive Vice President with Fidelity Investments. In both roles, he led the business development and marketing functions and established significant businesses. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Western Ontario.
