Allianz may be on the hunt for a new distribution chief. According to a published report, Brian Jacobs resigned from the PIMCO parent on Friday. He had served as managing director and head of sales at Allianz Global Investors Distributors.

Jacobs himself and a spokesman for Allianz both could not immediately be reached for comment on Jacobs' plans or on how his duties are being handled.

He also serves as chairman of the board for the Money Management Institute, a position he still retains. MMI spokeswoman Hilary Fiorella told MFWire that Jacobs' decision to leave Allianz doesn't affect his status as MMI chair.

Jacobs joined Allianz in 2000 following a 10-year stint at Eaton Vance.
