Hodges Capital Management has brought in a
Goldman Sachs alum to fill a newly-created post. Meanwhile, the Dallas-based company's funds are close to landing on
Merrill Lynch's platform, said
Gary Bradshaw, senior vice president at Hodges, in an interview with
The MFWire.
According to Bradshaw, Hodges recently hired
Kenneth Merritt as senior vice president of business development. Merritt was previously vice president and regional director at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
In an e-mailed statement, Merritt told
The MFWire that he will be responsible for "gaining access and distribution on the various Mutual Fund/SMA Wrap and UMA platforms within the wirehouse (National Broker Dealer) channel."
He added: "As we gain access to the various platforms, my responsibilities will include hiring and managing a traditional wholesaling group."
In addition to the new hire, Hodges is also incubating two new fund strategies -- the
Hodges Income and the
Pure Contrarian Fund.
Hodges also anticipates being added to a major b-d platform in the near future. Bradshaw said that Hodges' funds will soon be available through Merrill Lynch. The company is also on the lookout for sub-advisory opportunities.
