Phoenix Investment Partners has tapped an executive from the Harris Insight Funds to head manage its existing relationships with broker-dealers for its PhoenixFunds family.
Bernard A. Whalen takes the title of senior vice president, national accounts and will report to
Steve Gresham, executive vice president of Phoenix Investment Partners. The post is newly created.
Gresham said that Whalen will help the investment manager expand the distribution of its funds through national brokerage firms. "He has a wealth of experience in building relationships between investment managers and advisors to provide innovative solutions for investors," he added.
Whalen will also work to establish new relationships in the advisor distribution channel for the 69 PhoenixFunds. He will work in New Jersey and at Phoenix's Hartford headquarters in Connecticut.
In March of this year Phoenix adopted the 18 Harris Investment Management mutual funds as part of a strategic alliance through which Phoenix became the investment adviser, distributor and administrator of the former Harris Insight Funds. The funds were also rebranded as the Phoenix Insight Funds. Harris Investment Management continues to manage the majority of the Insight Funds and is the subadviser to other PhoenixFunds.
Whalen was the national sales director of the Harris Insight Funds and had been at that firm for more than seven years.
