Congress will hold more hearings on the mutual fund trading abuses Tuesday. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) is expected to use the hearing to release its report on the second of its two recent investigations into the failure of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to mutual fund trading fraud abuses.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Sensenbrenner had asked the GAO to conduct the investigations.
The hearing will take place at 4 p.m., Tuesday, June 7 in room 2141 of the Rayburn Building in Washington, D.C.
Among the witnesses scheduled to appear are Lori A. Richards, director, Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; Richard J. Hillman, director, Financial Markets and Community Investment, U.S. Government Accountability Office; William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; and Professor Eric W. Zitzewitz, Stanford Graduate School of Business.
