The late Richard I. Chambers
8/17/1969 - 2/21/2024
Richard Chambers, global chief marketing officer of asset and wealth management at New York City-based J.P. Morgan [profile], died on February 21, 401kWire has learned. Based in Manhasset on Long Island, Chambers was 54 years old.

After attending high school in Worcestershire, England, Richard I. Chambers worked in the travel industry and earned a business, travel and tourism diploma at Solihull College of Technology in the West Midlands. Seven years later, he joined American Express, where he led marketing and new product development.

Chambers joined J.P. Mogan Asset Management in 1999, serving as CMO for the UK and Europe. He later crossed the pond to serve as CMO for U.S. funds, then for the Americas. In 2014, he rose to global CMO for JPMAM, and in 2018 he became CMO for all of asset and wealth management.

"Richard built the leading asset management marketing organization, the envy of the industry," writes George Gatch, CEO of JPMAM, in a LinkedIn post. "It began as a scrappy effort to put J.P. Morgan on the global mutual fund map, and he ultimately pionered new techniques, that today, drive cutting edge marketing strategies for J.P. Morgan Asset & Wealth Management."
Last week, we lost a legend. And I lost a best friend and colleague of nearly 25 years. Richard Chambers was simply the best. He led with his heart and cared about everyone. Richard was an incredible husband, father and friend. He loved life and lived it to the fullest, always keeping us in check with his British humor and wit.

"If you were lucky enough to work with him, you knew he had your back, no questions asked," Gatch adds. "Richard was a friend, mentor and ally to so many people. He made everything and everyone better."

Gatch reveals that hundreds of Chambers' J.P. Morgan colleagues gathered with other friends and family on Monday night at Fairchield Funeral Chapel in Manhasset as Chambers was in repose. The mourners "came to share stories, tears, laughs, and even belt out Sweet Caroline."

"RC, you may have left us too soon, but you gave us an entire lifetime of memories and laughs in the years we had," Gatch writes. "We miss you. We love you."

Chambers is survived by his wife, JPMAM global media relations chief Kristen Chambers, as well as by four children, two siblings, and other family and friends. In lieu of flowers, his family is directing donations to America's VetDogs
