A $576.8-billion-AUM (as of June 30), Midwestern asset manager recently hired a senior Big Apple executive in operations.

Barbara Pacicco Wenig Principal Global Investors Executive Director of Global Operations and Platforms Experience

Today Kamal Bhatia, chief operating officer of Principal Global Investors [profile] (the asset management arm of publicly traded Principal Financial Group) and president of Principal Funds, confirms that Barbara Wenig is joining PGI. New York City-based Wenig will fill a newly created role at Des Moines, Iowa-based PGI: she will serve as executive director and head of global operations and platforms experience.

Wenig most recently served as managing director and head of client platform at Neuberger Berman.

"Her responsibilities have been allocated to other leaders at the firm," a Neuberger spokesperson tells MFWire.

Bhata lauds Wenig for her "wealth of knowledge and experience from overseeing operating platforms across global regions" and for her "strong track record and deep understanding of client service, relationship management, business analytics, and business transformation efforts."

"She fills a critical role in allowing us to deliver innovative capabilities to our retail, institutional, and retirement clients," Bhatia states.

Wening has spent 17 years at Neuberger and Lehman Brothers (Neuberger's former parent). Prior to that, she worked at HMS Holdings Corp. She is an alumna of Ohio State University's Fisher College of Business and of Mercyhurst University.
