The
St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that
Argent Capital Management is at least the seventh mutual fund firm in the St. Louis, Missouri area. Earlier this fall the Argent team
converted a small cap private fund into a mutual fund,
moving about $138 million into that new MF.
Argent's
Eddie Vigil PMs the new MF.
Steve Finerty (
chairman and co-founder of Argent) sees launching the MF as an opportunity to expand Argent's distribution, to 401(k) plans and other channels, the
Post-Dispatch reports. (Finerty is also a partner at a local RIA,
Moneta Group, and he co-founded a local
401(k) TPA and recordkeeper.)
Argent's team of 30 specializes in long-term, active, U.S. equity asset management, and their offerings include dividend select, large cap growth, mid cap, and small cap core strategies. The firm launched in 1998 and is 95-percent owned by employees.
John Meara serves as Argent's president and chief investment officer, and
Mark Caplinger serves as chief operating officer.
