Paul Schott Stevens and his team will
wrap up the Investment Company Institute's (
ICI's) 60th annual General Membership Meeting (GMM) this morning at the Washington Hilton with a half day of
sessions, largely featuring speakers from outside the industry. The 2018
ICI GMM began on
Tuesday and
continued yesterday.
A breakfast session is already underway, featuring ICI chief Stevens interviewing
Michael Piwowar, a Republican
SEC commissioner. Earlier this month, Piwowar
revealed that he will resign by July 7 or when a successor is sworn in, whichever comes first.
Next up will be a session about technology disruptors.
Tom Eck, chief technology officer for industry platforms at
IBM, will speak on "Embracing Change: Artificial Intelligence and the Cloud." And
Adam Jonas, managing director and analyst at
Morgan Stanley, will speak on "The Future of Transportation."
Finally, NASA astronaut
Jerry Linenger (also a retired U.S. Navy captain and flight surgeon who spent nearly five months on the Russian space station Mir) will deliver the final keynote address, entitled "Challenges and Change: My 132 Days Off the Planet."
The 61st
ICI GMM will again be held in Washington, D.C., May 1-3, 2019.
