Even as Bill McNabb steps back at Vanguard [profile], he's adding another hat elsewhere.

McNabb, 60, has joined the board of directors for Minneapolis-based UnitedHealth Group, the managed health care company's chairman confirmed yesterday.

Though he passed the Vanguard CEO reins to Tim Buckley at the beginning of January, McNabb also continues to serve as chairman of the board Valley Forge, Pennsylvania-based low-cost colossus. He has chaired Vanguard's board since 2010.
