The La Jolla, California-based independent research firm,
Altegris, announced on June 30 that
Martin Beaulieu was appointed as executive chairman.
MFWire has learned that Beaulieu will now be in charge of "firm strategy and the day-to-day management of the company."
Beaulieu was not immediately available for comment.
Beaulieu has replaced
Jon Sundt, the founder of Altegris, who stepped down from the position earlier this year and "advises Altegris on an informal basis," according to a spokesperson.
Jack Rivkin will maintain his responsibilities as the CEO and chief investment strategist for Altegris.
Since March 2016, Beaulieu has served as an Altegris board member. He is a veteran in the investment world with over 30 years of experience. Some of his past roles included serving as the president of retirement services for
MFS Investment Management, the CEO of MFS/McLean Budden, and the head of retail iShares US at
BlackRock.
MFWire covered when Beaulieu left BlackRock and joined
Brightscope as an advisor last fall.
He earned his Bachelor's degree at Santa Clara University.
