UniCredit may be shaking up the ownership structure for
Pioneer Investments [
profile], but
Lisa Jones is still in charge on this side of the Atlantic. And Pioneer's roughly 550 U.S. employees are staying put, too.
Yesterday UniCredit and Banco Santander
unveiled a deal to combine their asset management businesses and putting Pioneer Investment Management USA, Inc. under a new Pioneer Investments holding company jointly owned by UniCredit and two private equity giants. Yet the deal is a preliminary one, and Pioneer spokesman Geoff Smith confirms that "there are no changes to the US business as a result of the preliminary agreement."
There's also no official word yet on when the deal will ultimately go down.
"Discussions between the parties will continue towards the signing of a definitive agreement later this year," Smith tells
MFWire in an emailed statement. "Until that happens, both companies continue to operate independently and there are no changes taking place."
Jones
took over Pioneer Investment Management USA
last summer as president and CEO. Pioneer has about 550 employees in the U.S, working with about $70 billion in assets under management.
