Fundsters have a new legal voice to turn to in Washington.
The Washington, D.C.-based mutual fund industry trade group Investment Company Institute's (
ICI) spokeswoman Inga Vitols confirms that on September 2,
David Blass joined on as general counsel. ICI chief
Paul Schott Stevens revealed back in July that Blass would soon be joining the trade group, reporting to Stevens.
Blass previously served as chief counsel and associate director of the SEC's division of trading and markets. At the ICI he succeeds acting general counsel
Dorothy Donohue, who took the role after former ICI general counsel
Karrie McMillan left the trade group in February.
"I am thrilled to join the Institute and I am honored to be selected to lead the Law Department, which is so highly regarded throughout the mutual fund industry," Blass said in an emailed statement. "I am looking forward to drawing from my international, public policy, and private practice experience to support ICI's policy priorities both in the U.S. and abroad."
